Our Services

Visit our Emergency and Critical Care service.

The Emergency and Critical Care Service is led by Lindsay Kellett-Gregory, supported by Emily Thomas, Giacomo Stanzani and Rachael Birkbeck. All are American, European and/or RCVS Recognised Specialists in Emergency and Critical Care.

They benefit from a team of dedicated specialist veterinary nurses. This team is growing rapidly and, within a dedicated Intensive Care Unit, provides an advanced level of care to critically ill patients, saving the lives of pets that would otherwise not have responded to conventional treatments.

The Service works closely with all the other specialties available in the clinic to provide a unique multi-disciplinary approach to complex cases, enabling the best possible care to be provided.

Advanced therapeutic procedures including mechanical ventilation, tailored transfusion medicine, critical care nutrition (including parenteral nutrition), advanced cardiovascular monitoring and support are all available.

We work closely with owners and referring veterinary surgeons to keep them updated and informed throughout the period of hospitalisation. The service also aims to offer high flow nasal oxygen therapy as an alternative to ventilation in selected cases and to aid the recovery of brachycephalic patients undergoing surgical procedures.

A selection of extracorporeal therapies, including dialysis for acute renal cases, plasmapheresis to treat a range of immune-mediated diseases, haemoperfusion to treat intoxications and ultrafiltration to manage patients with severe refractory congestive heart failure will also be offered in the near future.

The Critical Care service also provides palliative care to patients as appropriate and seeks to ensure that the best treatment option for a given pet and owner is provided at all times.
