Orthopaedics

The Orthopaedics service undertakes diagnosis and treatment of injury or disease of the musculoskeletal system i.e. the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons of the body.

If your veterinary surgeon refers you to our Orthopaedics Service, you can rely on the veterinary expertise, sophisticated facilities and first class nursing at DWR to ensure that your pet receives the best possible level of care.

We specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Cats and dogs are referred to us for a wide range of conditions including hip dysplasia, cranial cruciate ligament disease, fractures, osteoarthritis and limb deformities.

Our Orthopaedic Surgeons repair an extensive variety of injuries and disorders and we have a wealth of clinical expertise and experience. The treatments available range from minimally invasive arthroscopic and fluoroscopic guided (key hole) procedures to total hip replacement.

DWR is a multi-disciplinary centre and our service benefits greatly from an integrated approach to cases involving Specialists from related disciplines as appropriate. We are also supported by our in-house Physiotherapy Team whose land and water-based therapies can enhance the rehabilitation of our patients.

Orthopaedics is a field which is developing rapidly. In recent years state of the art techniques, such as joint replacement, have become routine procedures undertaken regularly by our team. We are constantly investigating new approaches and seeking optimum therapies for our patients.
