Job Title: Theatre Nurse

Date Created: October 2021

Location: Newmarket / Cambridge

Reports to: Theatre Manager

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a vibrant Theatre Nursing Team working in our busy, purpose-built clinic that is fully equipped with the surgical equipment and diagnostic facilities commensurate with a flagship specialist veterinary hospital.

The position will involve all aspects of theatre nursing including preparation of rooms and equipment, preparing patients for surgery, working in the circulating nurse role and the opportunity to scrub in and assist.

Successful Candidate:

You will have excellent all-round nursing skills, with a passion and drive for delivering outstanding patient care. You will be a team player who enjoys working in a supportive working environment, whilst also being able to use your initiative and challenge the status quo. Referral nursing experience is not necessary, as full training will be provided.

From the position you can expect to come into work everyday to something completely different, from total hip replacements to cataract surgery, we cover all the disciplines in the hospital, which helps to keep a varying caseload. We very much like to help people expand their knowledge in areas that interest them, and as a Theatre Nurse there will be the opportunity for you to develop your skills working alongside a team of Specialists together with in-house and external CPD.

Please note this is a full-time position, working a 40-hour week. We are within reason open to those wanting to work different shift patterns, in order to help keep a happy work-life balance, so long as this also fits in with our team. Some of our colleagues work 10-hour days, some 9 and others 8, with one night a week on call and a 1:6 on call weekend rota.

As part of the on-call rota, you are not required to be at the practice, only to come in when surgery is required. All we ask is that you are able to get to the practice within no more than 45 minutes.

As you would expect from the UK’s largest private veterinary referral hospital, we offer an inspiring and friendly working environment together with career development opportunities and an attractive benefits package.

If you share our passion for delivering excellence, trust and care then we would love to hear from you.

To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role to: vacancies@dwr.co.uk
