Job Title: Anaesthesia Nurse

Date Created: October 2021

Location: Newmarket / Cambridge

Reports to: Head of Anaesthesia

Position Type: Full Time plus OOH Rota

Develop your career with DWR and be part of something special!

Founded in 2003 by Professor Dick White, DWR has rapidly grown to become one of the largest small animal hospitals in Europe. The hospital is fully equipped with surgical, diagnostic and hospitalisation facilities commensurate with a flagship specialist veterinary hospital. As part of our on-going drive for excellence, we have a new building that will double the size of the hospital to create a world class hospital.

DWR is situated between Newmarket, Suffolk town considered the birth place of thoroughbred racing, and the beautiful university city of Cambridge. London is only and hour away with easy road and train links; we are also perfectly located to explore the beautiful coastline and countryside of Norfolk and Suffolk.

We are looking for an Anaesthesia Nurse to join our Anaesthesia team, currently including 6 Diplomates, 3 Clinical Fellows, 4 Residents, 3 Interns and 5 nurses. Our specialist anaesthesia team works alongside colleagues in orthopaedics, soft tissue, ophthalmology, oncology, cardiology, internal medicine, neurology and diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound and radiography). The successful candidate will manage a varied and challenging caseload throughout the peri-anaesthetic period supported by senior anaesthetists, working both in theatre and diagnostic imaging. The successful candidate must be highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work both independently and within the team. Practical skills such as arterial and central venous catheter placement, as well as loco-regional techniques are also encouraged and supported by the senior team. The role will include participation in the out of hours Anaesthesia rota, as a “second on call” alongside a Senior Anaesthetist or an Anaesthesia Resident.

The position would suit somebody with anaesthesia experience at referral level with a passion for pursuing a career in this field. The successful candidate should ideally have a post graduate qualification in anaesthesia, such as the VTS (anaesthesia and Analgesia) or the advanced veterinary nursing (anaesthesia) certificate.

As you would expect from the UK’s largest private veterinary referral hospital, we offer an inspiring and friendly working environment together with career development opportunities and an attractive benefits package.

If you share our passion for delivering excellence, trust and care then we would love to hear from you.

To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role to:vacancies@dwr.co.uk. The deadline for applications is 31st December 2021.
